Our street markings and sign
crew currently exist of one full time employee. Due to the job demand I have additional employees to assist with this crew.
The employees that man this job have multiple specialized skills. From operating computers and plotters to running various
types of street marking equipment is within the scopes of this crew’s abilities.
The various types of task being performed by these guys demand a wide range of talent. Striping streets,
installing thermo plastic stop bars, arrows and stop bars are just a few to mention that is part of our street marking procedures.
Fabricating and developing all traffic signs using computer and plotter technology is a specialty of our sign crew. This same
crew is also responsible for the posting and maintenance of these fabricated signs. In addition to signs and street markings,
designing and installing decals for public works vehicles, parks and recreation vehicles, fire department vehicles and police
department vehicles is also part of the task these guys partake in.
A new project has been put forth for this crew to accomplish this year. In late September this crew will
be starting the procedure of street stamping. The diagonal herringbone brick is the pattern of design that will be applied
to a few designated asphalt streets here in Morristown. After the stamping has been completed then the brick design will be
painted for an authentic look of real brick. This equipment and procedures are new to the city of Morristown and this crew. But looking back at this crew’s tremendous ability to adapt and learn new task this
will be a cakewalk.
